Gone are the good old days when our parents celebrated their work silver jubilees in their jobs and there were huge celebrations at retirements. I wonder if those reasons to celebrate hold any water in today’s world…..
Time has changed so fast. Today, brand value, ISO and CMMI accreditations do not mesmerize the developers, rather, it’s the pay package which matters the most. Parents who use to be proud of themselves while getting retired after serving the same Organization for decades, now have adapted themselves to the changing times where every year their children are changing jobs and even profiles for that matter. The only definition of success for them is the additional ‘zero’ in their pay package. Where our parents worked without any vacation for years, the young generation has picked up the word “sabbatical” to hibernate and come rejuvenated. Why boredom in the first place….Why stagnancy and boredom at such a break neck speed….why sabbatical when weekends are almost maddening with fun….Think we all need to think…
