Out of courtesy or by nature, we are always affirmative to any request especially if it is made by a senior at work. At times, we are not sure of the possibility of the task assigned to us, but to impress the senior and not having ever explored the responses on “No” or “sorry”, we tend to get into “No-problem” spiral which gets us into soup more often.

It is also a reason for not learning on the job as we give response without validating or doing  research on it . If a new opportunity strikes and you don’t want to say no, tell your senior that you can definitely do some R & D and need some time to come back on it.

We need to create a culture where is it not considered rude to say “I don’t know” or I will revert back after checking. It rather adds to your credibility that you are detail oriented and don’t giving half cooked information and consider it important to research on your task and then revert.
